Handbuilt pottery is made from clay using only hands and simple tools – not a potter’s wheel.  Lisa prefers hand-building because of its organic nature and unpredictability of the final product.  The process creates a final object that has been shaped and formed directly from her hands, making each piece unique.

The true perfection of Lisa’s handbuilt pottery comes from the impossibility of ever creating another piece exactly like it. This allows Lisa to leave a little piece of herself in each vessel. In contrast to those “perfect” (symmetrical and identical) objects produced by big industry, Lisa’s handbuilt vessels appeal to customers who appreciate creativity, imperfection, and individuality. 

The process of taking a lump of clay, giving it form using your own hands, firing it in the kiln, and walking away with something beautiful, functional, and completely unique is a magical  - and HOLY – experience for Lisa.
